Explore Nordic ski trails created by America’s cross-country skiing pioneers while enjoying the comfort of historic accommodations.
A true journey through time that will take you from one station to another of the legendary Laurentian Snow Train.
This self-guided version costs 60$ per person. Scroll down to see what is included and excluded. There are no official dates for self-guided tours: it’s up to you!
East route
Itinerary and accommodation

- 45 km off-piste cross-country ski expedition
- 10 km on shared trails (classic cross-country skiing)
- 3 days of cross-country skiing – 10 to 20 km per day

Daily overview
Day 1
- Meet at Prévost in the morning.
- Take the snow bus (Inter) to Val-David.
- Visit the heart of the village of Val-David on foot.
- Ski in the footsteps of the Gillespie family between Val-David and Val-Morin over 13 km.
- 3 kilometers of shared trails (classic cross-country skiing and Nordic skiing).
- Cross-country skiing in the Val-David-Val-Morin regional park and in the Far Hills sector.
Dinner and overnight stay in Val-Morin.
- Option 1: Far Hills Hotel
- Option 2: The Convent in Val-Morin
Day 2
- Enjoy a continental breakfast.
- Ski from Val-Morin to Sainte-Adèle over nearly 20 km.
- Take the Jackrabbit Johannsen and Eddy Fortier trails.
- Enjoy a dinner surrounded by nature near Émile Cochand’s former chalet.
- Progress on cross-country skiing on the P’tit Train du Nord over 4 kilometers.
Dinner and overnight stay in Sainte-Adèle.

Day 3
- Have a hearty lunch at Au Clos Rolland.
- Warm up with cross-country skiing on the P’tit Train du Nord (1 km).
- Make your way to the village of Piedmont.
- Put down your Nordic skis for a moment at the Olympia Summit chalet.
- Go down towards Prévost via the Alfred-Kelly Nature Reserve.
- Enjoy après-ski at the Shawbridge Microbrasserie near the P’tit Train du Nord.
Day 1 Option
Option for experienced and independent skiers.
- Organize your shuttle between Prévost and Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts.
- Take on the challenging, yet exciting Gillespie Cross-Country Ski Trail.
- Book at the Far Hills Hotel for the night.
- Dine at the Far Hills Hotel restaurant.
- See day 2 and day 3 for the rest.
